RemediationSoil and Groundwater RemediationWhether you wish to treat soil and groundwater at a property to help a sales transaction or are required to perform remediation by a regulatory agency, 4QR will evaluate your situation and compare various remediation methods from mobile and full-scale remediation systems, bioremediation, chemical surfactants to some of the other latest methods. We will find a practical solution based on cost, time tables, efficiency, and practicality that matches your specific situation. Some of the technologies we provide include soil excavation, bioremediation, chemical remediation, air sparging, soil vapor extraction, pump-and-treat, multi- and dual-phase extraction, biosparging, and more. When a propoerty has limited pockets of pollution or low contaminant concentrations, often mobile units or chemical/biological injections can be performed quickly and efficiently. When installation of a full-scale remediation system is being considered, each remedial system is built to specific site criteria, with new and improved innovations always being incorporated into equipment. And in many circumstances, the combination of two or more technologies may be the most appropriate to meeting your goals. Our staff works with the equipment manufacturing companies to establish an understanding of the remedial system through project management, site meetings, and training. With 4QR’s client service, we keep you posted about all the construction activities and try to minimize interference to the day to day operations of your property. We maintain a schedule for maintenance to minimize disruption and regularly review flow measurements, temperature readings, pressure status, etc. to verify the remedial system is operating at optimum performance. Underground Storage Tank Closure 4QR can assist you with planning and closing an underground storage tank (UST) system. With our experience in dealing with UST regulatory programs, we will help evaluate the type closure, from temporary to in-place to permanent removal, that best fits your short term and long term goals. We assist in completing permitting and notifications in preparation to the closure activities and then work with our construction contractors to perform the closure in a practical manner that minimizes interference to your property. During the removal, we provide the field sampling, and then collect all the data necessary in preparation of the closure report. Since each state UST program varies in it’s requirements, you can feel assured that 4QR will review all the current state guidelines, from initial permitting to number of soil samples collected to analysis performed to appropriate disposal alternatives to reporting requirements, so the project gets done right. Risk Based Corrective Action (CAPs) 4QR can assist you with your environmental investigations by reviewing the options for Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA). Many regulatory agencies utilize RBCA to evaluate risks of nearby receptors like potable drinking water resources, surface water bodies, and underground utilities in relation to human health versus degradation characteristics of pollution in soil and groundwater. 4QR will prepare a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that evaluates the short and long term effects of existing and potential pollution at your property and includes computer-generated groundwater modeling. The groundwater modeling is then evaluated to determine what actions may be required. In many cases, when pollution is anticipated to naturally break down before it migrates to a receptor, groundwater monitoring by natural attenuation can be an appropriate action at a facility. Often regulatory agencies require a two-year groundwater monitoring program with natural attenuation to bring your facility to a “No Further Action Required” status. Risk based corrective action can thus be used to avoid costly remediation or to reduce the extent of remediation where limited risks to human health and the environmental are present. Remedial Design and Construction We understand the importance of limiting remediation time in relation to operating costs and meeting target cleanup goals. That is why we strive to design the most appropriate remedial system for your site, while installing a remedial system that is reliable and relatively easy to maintain. From technologies like soil excavation, bioremediation, mobile multi-phase extraction, or a full-scale remediation system, we keep up with turnkey solutions so we can offer you the best technology to accomplish your goals. During the evaluation process, we will gather any relative site-specific information necessary to complete the remedial design through aquifer studies, soil tests, pilot tests, biological reduction properties, etc. A reconnaissance visit at the site is performed by one of our key persons involved in the design, while we also conduct a detailed project review and pre-construction meeting onsite to incorporate any site-specific details ahead of time so the remedial and construction phases are implemented smoothly. |
