Petroleum Site Remediation
The site is an active service station where a release occurred from a former underground storage tank/delivery system. 4QR maintains operation of an air sparging/soil vapor extraction (AS/SVE) system, which was installed to remediate soil and groundwater contamination. The recovery well network consists of nine (9) combination AS/SVE wells positioned with a design radius of influence of 30 feet. The AS unit promotes oxygenation throughout the groundwater contaminant zone via 1-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC pipes for the AS wells, which were installed to 45 feet BLS. The air compressor has a designed capacity to meet 129 scfm of air flow at 21 psi. Individual 2-inch-diameter Schedule 40 PVC pipes were installed to 10 feet BLS to recover contaminant vapors from the vadose zone. Extracted vapors are transferred from each of the 9 SVE well sections into a common 4-inch header pipe, which connects to the skid mounted SVE unit located within the fenced in remediation enclosure. Vapors are extracted from the SVE wells at a combined total flow rate of 495 scfm at 127 in-H2O vacuum.

The remedial system is inspected on a quarterly basis, or more frequently if necessary, to perform maintenance on the equipment and maintain continuous operation. 4QR conducts quarterly sampling of the remedial system and monitoring wells to evaluate remedial progress at the site. Operation of the remedial system is currently in progress.
